When you renew a book, you will get an additional three weeks.
Or, you can choose to hold on to the book until you finish, but then you will accrue a 15-cent fine every day until you return it. That also makes the next person in line for the book wait longer, so it's not something we recommend (it's not very nice to make another person wait). :)
