Hello,

Thanks for getting in touch.  Below the picture is a list of other series she might like.  I found these in Novelist Plus (a database the library subscribes to that helps you find books similar to other books or author you like).  One cool thing to mention is that the info that can be found in Novelist Plus has now also been added to our online catalog.  When you click on a title you're interested in, click on Related on the left hand side of the page under the book cover, and you'll find links to other books you might like.  Below is a screenshot of that, in case your'e interested.

List of series like Divergent

1.   Hunger Games trilogy
Collins, Suzanne
Reason:  Readers who can't get enough dystopian fiction with strong female main characters will enjoy both series in which factions compete in often disturbing contests in which their strength and courage are tested. -- Kathy Stewart
2.   Blood of Eden
Kagawa, Julie
Reason:  Readers who like their dystopias infused with a little supernatural will enjoy both series in which strong teen girls fight to stay alive -- as an initiate (Divergent) and in a recognizable post-apocalyptic world taken over by vampires (Blood). -- Kathy Stewart
3.   Books of Ember
DuPrau, Jeanne
Reason:  These series are Compelling, and they share: the genre 'Science fiction' and the subject 'Dystopias'.
4.   Uglies
Westerfeld, Scott
Reason:  These series are Suspenseful and Compelling, and they share: the genre 'Science fiction' and the subjects 'Dystopias' and 'Teenage girls'.
5.   Maze runner trilogy
Dashner, James, 1972-
Reason:  These series are Suspenseful and Compelling, and they share: the genre 'Science fiction' and the subject 'Dystopias'.
6.   Unwind trilogy
 Shusterman, Neal
Reason:  These series are Compelling, and they share: the genre 'Science fiction' and the subject 'Dystopias'.
7.   5th wave
Yancey, Richard
Reason:  These series are Suspenseful and Compelling, and they share: the genre 'Science fiction' and the subject 'Dystopias'.

I'll mention just one final series that she may like, but it's fantasy and not sci-fi: Daughter of Smoke & Bone by Laini Taylor (a Portland author actually :) ).  It's about a very unique girl with special powers that you find is not really of this world.  As you learn more about her, you also learn more about the world she comes from and just who she is exactly.  A young romance also propels the story, it's heavy on the paranormal aspect, and most of it takes place in urban environments such as Prague (some features of the Dirvergent trilogy that may have appealed to your daughter).  Here's a description: "The trilogy follows Karou, a seventeen-year-old Prague art student who was raised by creatures called chimaera that she has to go on tasks for: namely, collecting teeth for her foster father Brimstone. Karou has no idea what the teeth are used for. Furthermore, a man with fiery eyes and wings who has spent his time scorching handprints on doors across the world is about to kill Karou until she turns around and he sees something in her that causes him to falter."  The final volume in the trilogy comes out in April and I'll just warn that the 2nd book in the series contains violence (though Divergent does too and this may be part of what she found appealing/interesting).

Please do not hesitate to let us know if none of these appeal to her!  I'm sure we can put on our thinking caps and come up with many other series or individual titles she may enjoy if she enjoyed Divergent.  Tell her she must read again!  I guarantee we can find her another book or series she'll fall in love with! :)
